It is quiet in the shared walled garden, but all around are shops, cafés and restaurants. The high street is a 2-minute walk away, and a 10-minute walk takes you past the sea water baths and out on to the salt marshes. There are two fresh fish shops a stone’s throw away, and you can hop on a ferry to the Isle of Wight. The cottage forms part of an L-shaped building, the other part being occupied by the property owners. The Cottage By The Quay is the oldest part of the house, dating from Tudor times, and is now a comfortable base with plenty of thoughtful touches, such as a book library and a selection of games.
The New Forest is ever popular all year round, and is suitable for all age groups. The unspoilt forest and heathland, with wandering ponies and cattle, is what it is most known for. Miles of beautiful walks are available, or alternatively the surrounding area can be explored by car or on bicycle via the many cycle paths.
